Who We Are

How did Corazón Raíz begin?

Corazón Raíz was founded in 2022 with a simple conviction: education is one of the most powerful tools for creating lasting change. We work alongside indigenous and rural communities in Mexico to expand educational opportunities and strengthen locally led development.

Before founding Corazón Raíz, our co-founder and Executive Director, Fernanda de la Cerda, volunteered with organizations in Mexico and abroad. Those experiences revealed both the enormous challenges many communities continue to face and the extraordinary dedication of the people working to address them.

Inspired by those experiences, she founded Corazón Raíz with the belief that meaningful change begins with local leadership. By connecting committed people, communities, and partners across borders, we strive to expand educational opportunities where they are needed most.
