Project in Mexico

Teacher Training

We strengthen the skills and knowledge of teachers working in Indigenous and rural communities, contributing to stronger educational experiences for their students.

What Is the Project?

In 2024, we developed a training program for basic education teachers in the Sierra de Zongolica, Veracruz, focused on strengthening the knowledge and tools they use in their classrooms.

Through sessions led by specialists, we addressed neuroeducation and socioemotional development within the framework of Mexico’s Nueva Escuela Mexicana, while also creating a space for teachers from across the region to exchange experiences and learn from one another.

Building on this first experience, we seek to continue developing partnerships that allow us to bring additional professional development and training opportunities to teachers in Indigenous and rural communities.

The future lives in the hearts of those who educate. Investing in teachers is essential to multiplying impact and helping students become better prepared.

Impact

250 teachers trained, extending the impact to more than 5,000 basic education students across the region.

By strengthening teachers’ knowledge and practical tools, the impact extends beyond each training session and reaches directly into classrooms, contributing to stronger educational experiences for thousands of children and young people in the Sierra de Zongolica.

The Challenge

Progress

We held two training sessions for basic education teachers in the Sierra de Zongolica, with active participation and positive feedback from attendees.

Through this first edition:

Teachers gained tools in neuropedagogy and socioemotional development that can be applied in their educational practice.
We created a space for learning, dialogue, and exchange among teachers from the region.
The experience laid the groundwork for developing additional teacher training initiatives.
